After a day full of rumors, South Carolina officials confirmed that Will Muschamp has been relieved of his coaching duties effective immediately. Coach Boom has (finally) gotten the boot after what’s been a pretty rough 4.5 years in Columbia. No SEC East crowns, no major bowl wins, and 0-4 against instate rival, Clemson. In fact, he was outscored 184-55 in the Palmetto Bowl in his four years as head coach.

According to reports, First-year SC offensive coordinator Mike Bobo will assume head coaching duties for the Gamecocks’ (2-5) final three games against Missouri, No. 13 Georgia and on the road at Kentucky.

Muschamp was 28-30 at Carolina and after going 9-4 in 2017, he has complied an record of 13-19 overall. He’s due roughly a $15.3 million buyout.

Early potential front runners for his successor includes Louisiana’s Billy Napier, Liberty’s Huge Freeze, Coastal Carolina’s Jamey Chadwell, Charlotte’s Will Healy, and Alabama’s Offensive Coordinator Steve Sarkisian.
