While the championship party rolls on (pun intended) down in Tuscaloosa, talks of next season are already underway elsewhere as teams approach spring practice on the horizon. Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney recently spoke out about a few of his guys that have elected to use their extra year of eligibility from the NCAA. The new rule allows those who chose to do so, return next season regardless of academic/athletic classification. A handful of his players will compete as sixth year seniors in the upcoming 2021 season including most notably linebacker James Skalski, safety Nolan Turner, running back Darien Rencher and punter Will Spiers.
Clemson opens the year in Charlotte’s Bank of America Stadium as they battle old-school rival, Georgia. That contest is slated to kickoff Sept. 4 and will almost certainly be the site of ESPN’s College Gameday. It’ll be here before we know it!
